29May Juicedlink DS214 adapter ready to go.
It seems easy to just come up with a good idea and say poof “here it is”, but in truth, designs made with the makerbot arn’t quit that simple. The stack of 5 in the picture are just a few of the designs that didn’t work out. Some fell apart because of settings, some were just a little to small and a few had holes that didn’t work out. Regardless, the Juicedlink DS214 design is finally finished and ready to go.
There is a limited run of these first few adapters. So get them well they are hot. More will be coming in the next few weeks.
SOLD OUT

Any thoughts given to casting them? I’ve seen cast parts cranked out at MCS (http://metrixcreatespace.com/clonefactory) for repraps, and they’re pretty tough. It helps with the high waste rate. I’m pretty sure casting would work for both this and the shock mount.
Also, any thoughts about putting the design on thingiverse?

Casting resin molds could be an option, but I would then have to spend time drilling and finishing the through holes and press in nuts wouldn’t fit as snuggly. Right now with the tweaks I’ve made to the design I can have one printed (no cleaning needed), press in the metal parts, and it’s ready to go in about 40 min. If I had to do more work I don’t think I’d be able to sell them for so cheap.
As for posting to thingiverse, i’m on the fence. It took me 30+ designs and prints to find a layout that worked for the shock mount alone. I’d like my makerbot to pay for itself before I start giving away many hours worth of work. I’ll probably give in to the thingiverse design and share idea eventually, but I’ll probably hold out until the orders fall off.

I’ll have some more up as soon as I get back to the United States. I’m currently stuck in the airport in Poland drinking “strong” and waiting for the storm to clear. Price in the USA is $10 plus $2 shipping, everywhere else $10 plus $4 shipping.
