I really enjoy the Sennheiser G2 and G3 uhf systems, but if you are on a budget you might also want to consider the Samson Airline micro.

Hey DJ, have you ever used the Samson UM1 series of UHF wireless microphones? They’re about a hundred bucks cheaper than the Samson Airline series on B and H. Just wondering if you’d think the airline is worth the extra cost or if the UM1’s offer similar sound quality.
Thanks! (Good job btw on your reviews!)

Blade, I haven’t done any tests with the Samson UM1. The build quality never looked very good the few times I’ve seen them in action, and i’ve been told the audio quality isn’t much better then the 88w.
Also I don’t think these have frequency switching capabilities, so you have to hope that the one frequency it’s using isn’t taken by something else. On the bright side, you can change out the batteries.

Hi, DJ-
I found your site a while back and check it out frequently. I’m an electronic musician and was curious what kind of keyboard/electronic noisemaker stuff you’ve got in your recording setup? Have a better one and keep up the posting!

Chip, I’ve been loving my DX200 lately (fm synth with knobs), I have a dx7 fdII, some old juno stuff, a kaoss pad, and a bunch of circuit bent Casio keyboards. I have an mv8000, mpc1000, and I was able to spend a weekend in a college orchestra pit with a field recorder pulling every kind of sample I can think of. I’ve had a few dave smith keyboards but sold them and right now I’m on music equipment hold until I save up for a nord organ and possibly a moog slim phatty.

Cool. I’ve got the AN200 and love it. I’ve got some old Moogs and those phattys are WICKED.
