NOOB Shock Mount adapter
The NOOB Shock mount is designed to work with small handheld field records like the Zoom H1 and Tascam DR-05. It uses standard size 62 rubber bands and is made out of strong ABS plastic. Each Shock mount has 1/4 20 threads as well as a cold shoe adapter. Two can be combined with a Hot shoe extension bracket for larger microphones.
Even though this shock mount has a cold shoe adapter I strongly recommend combining it with a $3 threaded cold shoe adapter if you plan to mount this directly to your camera. This will keep your shock mount and field recorder from sliding out of the camera’s hot shoe bracket.
Price is $10 plus $2.57 shipping in the United States, please select the “$14 Other countries” option if you live outside the United States.
To find out more about the NOOB Shock mount click here.
NOOB Juicedlink DS214 adapter
The new NOOB DS214 v2 adapter is designed to make your Juicedlink DS214 adapter easier to mount by providing female 1/4 20 threads on the top and bottom of the unit. The adapter also provides cold shoe mounts on both the top and bottom of the unit to allow you more positions to mount microphones, wireless receivers, and other audio gear.
The new Design has an interference fit so that it wont easily slide out of your camera’s hot shoe bracket, however I still strongly recommend you mount it to your camera with a $3 threaded cold shoe adapter. This provides a way to lock down the adapter to the camera so that there is no way for the unit to come loose from your camera’s hot shoe mount.
Price is $10 plus $2.57 shipping in the United States, please select the “$14 Other countries” option if you live outside the United States.
NOOB Advanced Shock Mount adapter
The Advanced Zoom h1 shock mount will set you back $14 plus shipping, which is a little more then the original, but considering other options that run almost $50, I think it’s still a pretty good deal. The new design gives you 3 extra cold shoe adapters around the outside of the mount and it’s also thicker then the original Zoom h1 shock mount.
The thicker design allows you to mount wireless units or anything else you can think of without a problem. As with my other shock mount design I still strongly recommend you mount it to your camera with a $3 threaded cold shoe adapter. This provides a way to lock down the adapter to the camera so that there is no way for the unit to come loose from your camera’s hot shoe mount.
Price is $14 plus $2.57 shipping in the United States, please select the “$18 Other countries” option if you live outside the United States.

Wow, I scoured the interweb for a shock mount for my H1 back in Feb and couldnt find anything worthwhile. Ended up buying a universal shock mount that doesnt fit well, blocks buttons, and is an overall pain in the arse. This is brilliant! What kind of shipping time frame do you have?
July 4th, 2011 at 6:10 pm
about 2 to 4 days.
June 27th, 2012 at 12:04 pm
Will you have more of the shock mounts available anytime soon?

Depending on the when you order a shock mount and how many orders are in front of you it can take up to 8 days to ship. The 3d printers only run so fast and I shut down orders when shipping times get any great then 8 days. Paypal will send you an e-mail when your item is mailed.

Do you still have the shock mount? Do you mail it to Malaysia?
Thanks

Working on a few more items right now. Testing takes awhile, but there should be more cool stuff coming soon.

Any news on the DS214 adapter?
July 8th, 2011 at 8:18 am
I finally got caught up with the shock mount orders this week. I’m doing one last test run of the new juicedlink DS214 adapter design. I toughened up the interface and made a few structural changes. A few people reported from the first batch that the unit flex a little if there was a lot of weight mounted on top.

I’d like to buy two of these from you. They seem really well made and I appreciate your videos. I am leaving for Japan to do some pro-bono documentary work with a friend and we wanted to make sure these could get to us by this coming Thursday. I’m located in the Washington D.C. area. What do you think I’d be looking at in order to get them to me in time?
July 24th, 2011 at 11:37 am
Ran out of plastic on Saturday wont have more ready to ship until Tuesday. If you know where your going to be in japan I can ship them there. Just choose other countries from the drop down menu.
July 24th, 2011 at 1:45 pm
Ah shoot. We are going to be moving around a lot. Maybe we will have to check them out next time. Our flight leaves on the 31 (just checked.) So Friday would be the last day to get them. If your plastic comes in early Tuesday and we can work something out let me know. Have a good day.

Could someone send me a link where to get them in the UK.
Cheers.

The rubber bands are normally sold under a numbering system. #62 is the type. You can find them here.

I did consider it. I also have a CNC machine that could cut something like that out. The problem is I’ve been overwhelmed with the few things I have in the store right now. So much so that I haven’t really had time to work on a lot of other designs I’ve come up with.

Thanks Deejay,Shockmount arrived yesterday i’ve set it up and it looks really cool.I’m useing a griffin cable from mic to camera which makes the audio sound crap,i sussed out the problem was i needed one of these instead.

August 13th, 2011 at 2:21 pm
I just got a Zoom H1 so this looks interesting but it seems like it could kind of run into your forehead. For example, sometimes I switch back and forth between photo and video mode, so if I had this attached while taking a photo would it be poking into me? Or is there enough clearance?
August 17th, 2011 at 7:00 pm
I designed the shock mount to be a little bit taller so that you have clearance when capturing stills. Some have complained that it’s to tall others say that it isn’t tall enough. If you want the shock mount to be further forward on your camera an adjustable arm works very well. You can also use the shock mount in combination with a flash bracket.

I wanted to buy a Zoom H1 shock mount and I wanted to know how long does it take for me to get it (I live in California). More importantly, are they still in stock? Thanks.

Great site and tutorials that you have here. I bought the shockmount adapter for the Zoom H1. Do you usually have a tracking number or notify when it’s shipped?

Used my shock mount twice and both times I dropped my H1. Listen to the recommendation and buy the:
http://rover.ebay.com/rover/1/711-53200-19255-0/1?ff3=4&pub=5574945564&toolid=10001&campid=5336772068&customid=&mpre=http%3A%2F%2Fshop.ebay.com%2Fi.html%3F_from%3DR40%26_trksid%3Dm570.l2736%26_nkw%3D1%252F4%2522-20%2BTripod%2Bscrew%2Bto%2Bhot%2Bshoe%2Badapter
For me it is useless without the adaptor. I have a Canon T3i and it falls right off every time. I figured it wouldn’t be an issue because my plans were to use it on while DSLR is mounted on tripod. Then of course I move the tripod to set up for next shot and skip a heartbeat when the brittle H1 drops on the ground. Each time the H1surprisingly survived.
October 6th, 2011 at 2:50 am
I got the Shock mount the other day and it works great with the Tascam DR-05.
I have to say, well done.
You are seriously breaking ground here, making your own products and making them affordable and not taking large amounts of profit.
Its actually amazing what you are doing, lots of respect!
January 10th, 2012 at 9:32 am
I just got the dr07-mkii and I’m looking to get one of these mounts but I’m wondering if the rubber bands are strong enough to hold the weight of the dr05 or dr07mii. They seem a little heftier than the h1n.
February 9th, 2012 at 8:17 pm
I believe it will fit the Dr-07 as it’s the same size as the DR-05.

December 20th, 2011 at 9:11 pm
Hey DJ,
have you considered a bigger shockmount design that would accommodate the h4n/dr40 units?
December 22nd, 2011 at 9:56 pm
Hi, can the H1 shockmount be used with a boompole and do you have any plans to make a shockmount for the H4n?
Thanks
December 28th, 2011 at 1:43 pm
There is a design out there for a Zoom h4n shock mount, (you can find it here), but it’s sort of flimsy and not really ready for prime time. I’ve worked on a few designs but none of them have been very practical.
December 24th, 2011 at 2:14 pm
hey, I was wondering if i would be able to use the zoom h1 shock mount with any other mics. it looks like I could but i dont know
thanks
December 28th, 2011 at 1:22 pm
A few people have combined 2 of these shock mounts and used them with boom mics, although it really depends on how heavy your mic is.
January 22nd, 2012 at 7:38 pm
Can we infer from this and your previous reply that the Zoom H4n is too heavy for two NOOB Shock Mount adapters and the Dzone2 Hot Shoe Extension bracket combo?

Feedback from Germany: My advanced shock mount arrived yesterday and works fine with the Olympus DM-550 digital recorder. The same should be true for similar-sized models like (newer and slightly better) Olympus LS-3.

February 26th, 2012 at 7:28 pm
Two to three weeks depending on your countries handling of the post.
February 28th, 2012 at 10:11 pm
Will this fit/hold a Zoom H2N well?
February 29th, 2012 at 5:53 am
The Zoom H2n is probably a little to big for my shockmount.
February 29th, 2012 at 8:34 am
Fair enough. Any plans to make a larger one? 😀
February 29th, 2012 at 9:03 am
Or have any other suggestions for a shock mount? I’ve been looking around, but haven’t found anything close to affordable yet.
February 29th, 2012 at 10:57 am
The shockmount could be made larger, but things like the H2n and H4n really need 2 sets of rubber bands to be supported properly. Some people use a Mic shockmount and attach a handle to there Zoom that fits inside the mic shockmount suspension system. Most of these options are much more expensive then my shockmount design.
September 21st, 2013 at 7:05 pm
Is it a weight issue, or is the mount physically not wide enough to hold the H2n? I’m wondering if using two of these mounts in tandem with a cold shoe extension would work. That would still be cheaper than the $50+ alternatives out there.
September 24th, 2013 at 6:46 pm
The size is the main issue. The design is for thinner filed records like the h1 and dr-05, much bigger then that and your field recorder will start bouncing against the sides.
March 1st, 2012 at 9:21 am
I’m interested in picking up one of the shockmount adapters for my H1 – quick question – I assume the 1/4-20 threads for connecting to the $3 adapter are plastic and not metal?
If they are, it sounds like (at least for my intended use) that I would leave the adapter permanently attached to the shockmount to minimize the risk stripping the threads.
March 1st, 2012 at 10:04 am
There is a press fit metal square with 1/4 20 threads at the base of each of my shockmounts. So you shouldn’t have to worry about stripping out threads.
March 2nd, 2012 at 10:30 am
Thanks! Just put my order for the original model shockmount last night! Can you send me a quick email (not the same as the one I use for posting public comments) when you send it?
Cheers,

March 7th, 2012 at 3:58 am
My shock mount arrived yesterday. 😀 Works great. And in case anyone is wondering, the cold shoe adapter fits a D3100 very firmly. I’d bought a threaded cold shoe adapter, but I don’t think it’s going to be necessary.
March 8th, 2012 at 5:49 pm
Received today in the nick of time – I stripped the threads on my H1 Zoom (why do they make the tripod mount the same soft plastic as the rest of the body?).
This shock mount is smaller than expected – great for my little GF2 – can’t wait to use it in the field.

Just to let you know guys, I’ve received my Advanced shock mount a few weeks ago, but there was a problem during the transport and the item was damaged. After a quick email to Deejay including pictures, I’ve been shipped a brand new mount within minutes, no question asked, and it has just arrived this morning.
It’s rare enough to see that kind of great support not to report it. Service has been wonderful, you can buy with confidence.

Hey Deejay,
In a post last year ( http://www.dslrfilmnoob.com/2011/09/11/building-rampage-fireball-v90-cnc/ ) you mentioned that you may be creating some linear bearing sliders for the noobstore. Is this still something you plan to do? Great resources man keep up the great work!
April 1st, 2012 at 6:05 am
Larry, I’ve tried several versions of a Noob slider and so far, they either cost to much to make, or the assembly processes is to complex. Right now i’m working on a DIY kit where you would get some of the parts from me, and the rest of parts would come from a hardware store, then build the whole thing at home. My goal is to keep the total parts price under $40.
April 2nd, 2012 at 9:47 am
Thanks for the swift reply. Right on for working on that kit I will be looking forward to seeing what the future holds for us here at DSLRfilmnoob. Keep up the awesome work!

Any chance you could make a Advanced Shock Mount large enough for a Tascam DR-40?
April 16th, 2012 at 8:59 pm
Hey. I bought one about 6 weeks ago hadnt even had a chance to use it yet. Ive been keeping it in my car for quick access when needed. I went to use it today and it had melted… it hasnt even reached 80s here yet so these things are pretty temp sensitive! Anyways can I get another at a discount? 😉
April 17th, 2012 at 2:46 pm
Sure, shoot me an email and ill help you out. The material that the shock mounts are made out of gets soft around 200 to 250 degrees. Add some elastic pressure to that and they’ll worp and distort.

$12 plus $2 shipping to Canada. Still waiting on a few more parts before I can get things back up and running, shock mounts should be for sale again starting the middle of next month. People with canceled orders will have the first chance to buy.
May 25th, 2012 at 7:49 am

July 18th, 2012 at 8:46 pm
These transmitters code your audio into what is basically a lower level mp3 format so the transmitted audio is compressed quit a bit. Other bluetooth devices can cause drop outs and some units have gating which can give you strange audio effects. If you have little to no budget and plenty of time it works. If you have a paying job or don’t have time to fiddle around with all the possible things that can go wrong you should look else where.

done, I’ve sent the extra 2 USD from fuat.zakiah@gmail.com account. the previous payment is from zackie_d@yahoo.com.
August 17th, 2012 at 11:45 am
Got it. Your shock mount should ship out today.
August 22nd, 2012 at 11:10 pm
Hi, DeeJay. I wonder if there’s a tracking number available for my order. I have no idea how long does it take for the shipping to arrive here in Jakarta.
August 23rd, 2012 at 5:59 am
Sorry Fuat there is no tracking, that would add about $12 to the shipping price. Your order shipped out last week and usually takes 2 to 3 weeks to get to that part of the world.
August 23rd, 2012 at 9:36 am
All, right, no problem. Thanks a lot, man. I’m so excited about the shock mount.
August 17th, 2012 at 10:36 pm
Do you supply the size 62 rubber bands with the advanced / normal shock mounts or do we have to buy them from somewhere else for the unit.
Sorry if you already answered this question, thnx. Pls let me know 🙂 Already put in order for one to Sydney AUS.
August 18th, 2012 at 9:10 am
Rubber bands are included. I also through in a few extra with each order.
August 18th, 2012 at 11:54 am
Hey Deejay I ordered an advanced shock mount a couple days ago. I’m just wondering how long the shipping would take to the N.Y area because I have a project coming up where the shockmount would be awesome! The PayPal money was sent through zoneorigins@gmail.com Thanks!
August 18th, 2012 at 1:17 pm
Your’s will be shipped out on Monday with the next batch. Usually taks 3 or 4 days USPS so you should have it before Friday of next week.
August 19th, 2012 at 3:26 pm
If I want two, it there a way to get a break on the shipping if ordered at the same time?
August 19th, 2012 at 6:16 pm
Sure just send me a message with one of the orders and I’ll refund you the shipping for one.
August 19th, 2012 at 3:27 pm
Also, will this hold the H4N?
August 19th, 2012 at 6:16 pm
Probably not.

Do you have any of the Jangus stuff ready for order?
September 4th, 2012 at 1:20 am
The shock mount arrives a lot sooner than I thought. The built quality is awesomely strong! Thanks a lot DeeJay!
September 5th, 2012 at 8:33 pm
Hi Deejay, just received your top mount for external mic. Great build. I wish you stated on your page that you actually include the bands cuz before it came i searched everywhere locally, to get me some bands, and i did buy some. Now i’ve got lots of bands lol.
Thanks
September 5th, 2012 at 9:45 pm
Sorry about that James. I usually try to include at least one or two replacements worth of bands in each kit. I buy the rubber bands in packs of 2400 so I try to pass the balk savings on to you guys.
September 19th, 2012 at 11:36 am

September 20th, 2012 at 10:45 pm

September 27th, 2012 at 5:28 pm
Hello mister DJ!
I have Canon 600D and I just got Zoom H1
I’m not really experienced regarding the equipment, and I’d appreciate very much your advice on what do you think I should get Shock Mount Adapter or Advanced Shock Mount Adapter? And also, when I order that from you, can I order also Threaded Cold Shoe Adapter or I have to buy it separately from Amazon…etc.
I hope you ship the things to France!
Thank you for your reply in advance!!!
September 27th, 2012 at 9:26 pm
Either is fine, but if you plan to try and and mount more gear in the future the advanced might be the better option. I ship to France and all over the world.
September 29th, 2012 at 4:17 pm
Thanks!!!
September 28th, 2012 at 10:50 am
tried ordering the advanced shock mount.

when will they be available?
September 28th, 2012 at 11:30 am
They are back in stock.
October 22nd, 2012 at 8:32 am
paid for this on sept 30, and still haven’t received it.
October 23rd, 2012 at 8:39 pm
Has it arrived yet? If not please send me an e-mail.
October 21st, 2012 at 4:23 am
Hey, can you please tell up to which diameter microphone will fit in the shock mount? And by the way, what is the external diameter of the zoom h1?
October 23rd, 2012 at 8:54 pm
2 1/2 inches is about the max diameter you could use. Any bigger then that and you could end up bouncing against the inside of the mount.
November 8th, 2012 at 1:52 pm
I would like to order two Shock Mounts with one order- how do I do that?
November 8th, 2012 at 5:43 pm
Just order two and make sure you place a note for the seller that says you ordered two and I’ll refund you the shipping cost for one of them.
November 12th, 2012 at 10:13 pm
Hi, I ordered one of your advanced shock mount’s a week ago. Just wondering how long shipping might take to New Zealand? Thanks
November 12th, 2012 at 10:49 pm
Matt, New Zealand can take up to a month and a half. But if customs treats your package nicely it can be as little as 3 weeks. Unfortunately your package is at the mercy of your countries customs system.
November 26th, 2012 at 8:49 pm
Where can I buy a generic wireless remote for a canon t2i?
November 26th, 2012 at 9:29 pm
Ebay, amazon, and the internet (aka china).

Thanks, jett
December 20th, 2012 at 5:04 pm
Probably not, The suspension can’t handle the weight or size.
December 28th, 2012 at 2:59 am
Hi,
is it possible to register somewhere to get informed, when the shock mounter adapters will be available again?
I would love to buy one. I guess I do need an extra adapter to use it with a sony slt, right? Are there any recommendations?
Thanks
Frank
December 30th, 2012 at 12:25 am
I have been checking on your store hoping to get one of your shock mounts for the zoom h1. When do you plan on having more in stock?
December 30th, 2012 at 8:08 am
Waiting for the next shipment of plastic to come in, Christmas time shipping is slow.
December 30th, 2012 at 1:04 am
Does the advanced shock mount adapter hold a Tascam DR-07 MKII? If so, how can I mount it nad still use my hot shoe for my flash on my canon T3i?
December 30th, 2012 at 8:12 am
Yes, and you can use a double cold shoe adapter.
January 13th, 2013 at 1:55 am
I’d like to know, when will you ship out my NOOB Shock Mount adapter I bought on 12 January.
January 13th, 2013 at 9:53 am
Well if you placed an order on January 12, chances are it probably wont ship out tell Monday or Tuesday depending on how many orders are ahead of you. You should get an e-mail from paypal when it ships.
January 16th, 2013 at 10:21 am
I received the mount shock adapter in 7 days after confirmation being send. Thnx for the fast response and delivery (The Netherlands)
January 16th, 2013 at 11:58 am
Good to know, it normally takes 14 days to get to the Netherlands.
February 5th, 2013 at 12:26 am
When will the increase in shipping prices to overseas take effect? Intending on getting one soon.
Thanks 🙂
February 5th, 2013 at 8:10 am
Sorry for the bad news Jo, but I found out about the postage jump when I took in the last batch of shipments. I’ve already updated the pricing in the store.
February 5th, 2013 at 8:39 am
It’s alright. It’s still very affordable though. Thank you so much for keeping it so :]
February 5th, 2013 at 2:53 pm
Quick question: I’d like to mount this to a fig rig. I see with the regular shock mount there’s mention of “1/4 20 threads” (I’m assuming female 1/4″?), but not with the “advanced” mount. Are there photos that show the location of the threads on the regular mount, and does the “advanced” mount have them? (Any other workarounds on how not to shoe-mount these are welcomed.) Thanks!
February 5th, 2013 at 3:36 pm
Kirk, both have 1/4 20 female threads located at the bottom of the unit. Haven’t taken a look at a fig rig in a few years, what’s it have for mounting options?
February 5th, 2013 at 4:28 pm
Thanks for the quick reply… I’m not sure what rig I will buy or make, just wanted to make sure there was something pre-drilled into the shock mount!
February 7th, 2013 at 4:20 pm
I just received the shock mount and I must say I am eXtremely impressed. This is a very well built high quality product. A couple months ago I purchased the Apogee MIC and I have been looking for a shock mount for it to use for music vocal recording and on set as a location mic. As far as I know non exist and no product I’ve looked at has come close to working. I wasn’t sure if your product would work but now that I have it and set everything up I must say it’s a perfect fit. I know you designed it originally for the Zoom H1 but it’s a great solution for filmmakers that want to take the Apogee MIC on location. I’d like to send you a picture if you are interested in seeing it set up so let me know. Thanx again for such a wonderful product. Will def. be buying another one soon. ~B)
February 11th, 2013 at 1:19 pm

February 20th, 2013 at 6:53 am
lol, bought. Thanks mate.
February 13th, 2013 at 10:52 pm
Does this shock mount fit a Nikon d3200, and would it hold a shotgun mic?
February 14th, 2013 at 6:43 am
You can combine two if you want to mount a shotgun mic, here’s an example.
February 14th, 2013 at 12:27 pm
That is awesome. Thanks!

love this item, thanks!
May 9th, 2013 at 1:39 pm
Just made my order. Shipping to UK. Cant wait for it to arrive! Do you have them ready to dispatch or do you make them as they’re ordered?

Just curious if you could make a suspension system like this for a tascam DR-40 and zoom H4N, I havea metal one right now but it’s pretty heavy and take constant tightening on the screws to keep it together.
July 9th, 2013 at 9:03 am

Hello, I ordered the zoom h1 shock mount back in Nov.

Thank You,

Hello Deejay I would appreciate a response to my previous message regarding the advanced shock mount adapter that I ordered back in Nov. Would you please respond. I was looking forward to having this gear for an upcoming event. It doesn’t look like the other one is coming after speaking to the post office will you please mail me another one.
January 20th, 2014 at 9:10 pm
Yikes! You ordered in November and still didn’t get it? I’ve been trying to place an order… maybe I should reconsider.
January 20th, 2014 at 9:33 pm
A little behind the scenes info, for whatever reason between november and december, i received over 400 orders and my printers were not ready for that kind of volume. I had to shut down ordering and cancel 50 or so orders just so I could keep up. Still dealing with the aftermath. Three printers are down with repair issues and i’m still waiting on plastic orders. DeShun’s order shipped, but the tracking number says it’s gone somewhere other than his address. I issued him a refund because I can not produce any more shock mounts until more plastic arrives. This is a one man shop guys, I work, I post, and I try to keep the printers running. I do as much as I can, but when things get crazy, I have to suspend orders or refund payments until I can catch back up.
January 20th, 2014 at 9:11 pm
A refund has been issued, no idea why your first order didn’t reach you as it was shipped to your paypal address. I’m currently without plastic stock and can’t make any more shock mounts until that is fixed. Sorry for the hassle.
January 20th, 2014 at 10:37 pm
No problem, thanks for the refund. Sorry for the issues you are having. I will definitely order once you are back up and running.
Thanks,
De Shun

January 10th, 2018 at 10:37 am
Girls hair bands usually work.
